"At least 1,000 people gave a standing ovation this morning as National Park Service officials, Gov. Ed Rendell, and other dignitaries, officially opened the new Gettysburg National Military Park Visitor Center and Museum and the newly restored Cyclorama painting." ...
"The project is the culmination of nearly 14 years of work by the NPS and The Gettysburg Foundation, a non-profit formed to be the park service's private partner in a model arrangement that will likely be seen in future projects around the nation as federal funding sources dry up.
The new center was initially estimated to cost $40 million, but the project increased in scope and depth over time and ballooned into around $103 million." ...
