"When SCP Worldwide bought the St. Louis Blues in July 2006, its partners knew a difficult task lay ahead, but even they were surprised by how tough the job turned out to be.

The New York group, headed by Dave Checketts, took over a franchise with just 5,600 season-ticket holders and a fan base frustrated by the cost cuts of former owners Nancy and Bill Laurie.

SCP raised ticket prices for the 2006-07 season, further frustrating fans, and watched attendance plummet. The team finished the first half of the season with the worst attendance in the league, averaging 9,117 fans in 12 of its first 13 games." ...
