Dallas City Council approves pre-design work for convention center hotel

"Dallas City Council members on Wednesday approved paying construction firm Matthews Southwest $4 million for pre-design work on a publicly owned Dallas Convention Center hotel.
The action was a minor step in City Hall's effort to construct the estimated $500 million-plus development, funded primarily by revenue bonds, that officials consider crucial to Dallas' economic health. Nonetheless, dozens of hotel supporters and opponents used the agenda item as a platform to air their broader concerns or superlatives." ...
