GWINNETT COUNTY: New land use plan has themes

"Gwinnett County’s new comprehensive plan is nearly done and, for the first time ever, the plan truly is comprehensive.
Two years ago, Gwinnett officials set out to combine their land use, transportation and housing plans into one coordinated study and plan, something regional planners say few other counties have done." ...
"Since Georgia law began requiring governments to complete such plans in 1989, most governments have prepared those plans separately, leading to policies that can appear disjointed, said Dan Reuter, land use chief for the Atlanta Regional Commission." ...
"Gwinnett’s new plan includes a series of policy recommendations for the county clustered under themes —- maintaining economic development, fostering redevelopment, maintaining transportation mobility, providing for housing choices and keeping Gwinnett a preferred destination for residents and businesses.
It also changes the presentation of the county’s land use map, a frequent friction point in zoning disputes." ...
