"Volunteers from the American Planning Association toured Slidell on Monday to help assess the city's planning needs and offer guidance as the city continues its recovery from Hurricane Katrina.

The planners arrived in New Orleans last week to attend a workshop about the city's future. They are also spending three days in Slidell, becoming familiar with this city and learning about the challenges that lie ahead.

The four-member team, hailing from throughout the country, will review the city's recently completed master plan as well as the new design guidelines for Olde Towne and the Fremaux Avenue corridor, especially important now that the new Interstate 10 interchange at Fremaux has opened. In addition, the members will meet with residents to determine what they want the city to look like in the future." ...
