Aerojet gets state OK to develop 2,300 acres in Rancho Cordova

"Aerojet has won final environmental clearance to develop 2,300 acres of land where dangerous chemicals were once dumped, marking a big step in realizing the company's real estate dreams – and perhaps soothing some of its impatient shareholders.
Aerojet's parent GenCorp Inc. on Monday announced what it called a "milestone" agreement with the state Department of Toxic Substances Control that declares the 2,300 acres in Rancho Cordova safe for development. The agreement lets Aerojet move ahead on a major portion of Rio del Oro, one of several developments planned by Aerojet on land south of Highway 50.
Much of Aerojet's property remains subject to environmental cleanup orders, the legacy of years of rocket-engine testing and manufacturing. But of the 6,400 acres earmarked for houses, offices and other development, Monday's agreement means only 1,100 acres are subject to some form of environmental restriction." ...
