Museum action concentrated in Manitoba capital

"A recent visit to Washington reminded me of the stupendous array of national museums the United States has assembled in its capital. By comparison with many countries, including Britain, France, Italy, Spain and even China, Canada's showing in the field of museum-building has been modest, to put it mildly.
In fact we have not created a new national museum since 1967. And hopes have been dashed that we are going to have our long overdue National Portrait Gallery any time soon.
That's one reason that a strong buzz of engagement is building across this country over the Canadian Museum of Human Rights – even in Toronto." ...
